Friends of Highclere Book Club
Highclere Castle’s Library is one of the most famous libraries on screen. Many scenes from Downton Abbey have taken place within the warmth and harmony of this room.

Nestled within the world-famous library of Highclere Castle, home to around 6,000 books, the Highclere Castle Book Club offers the perfect setting for lovers of literature. Each month, Friends of Highclere are invited to settle onto the iconic red
sofas for a convivial evening hosted by Lady Carnarvon.
The evening begins with champagne, tea, and home-made sandwiches, before continuing with a private tour of the Castle’s state rooms, led by one of Highclere’s knowledgeable guides.
Every gathering welcomes a distinguished guest from the world of books, whether in biography, non-fiction, or fiction. Past speakers have included Tim Marshall, Liz Earle, Sinclair McKay, Santa Montefiore, Lydia Millen, and Susie Dent, making each
event a memorable and inspiring occasion.

Our next guest for Book Club is Caroline Montague - The pieces of us
Caroline Montague discovered her passion of writing from the age of 7. At the very young age of 10, she won her first national poetry competition giving her the inspiration to develop a career in writing. A dream that took longer than expected to achieve, her life as a wife, and mother seemed to get in the way, although in 2018 her dream finally came true when she finally wrote her first novel set in Burton Norton.
Montague's latest book, The Pieces of us shows a beautiful portrayal of love and loss, and of hope in adversity. Characters Marina and Hugh were madly in love, although after the loss of their daughter, grief created a distance between them that feels impossible to bridge. Moving to London from Italy, Marina and Hugh come across a striking china pot in a London shop window, a pot that comes with a mystery that is connected to Hugh's own family...
Free event for Patrons and Friends of Highclere.
