Letter · November 1922
Written from Highclere on the morning the 5th Earl received Carter’s telegram from Luxor. Within weeks, the two men would stand together at the opening of the tomb of Tutankhamun.
“This was folded inside an unmarked envelope of estate correspondence, it has not been read, so far as we know, since it was filed in 1923.”
