Lady Carnarvon takes us on a private walk through the walled kitchen garden as spring arrives at Highclere. Dating back to the Victorian era, the garden is one of the hidden treasures of the estate, rarely seen by visitors but lovingly tended throughout the year.
In this film we discover the heritage apple trees, the cutting borders coming into bloom, and the kitchen garden that supplies the Castle’s table. A rare glimpse behind the walls.

What a treat this was. My grandmother kept a kitchen garden very like this one and the sight of the asparagus beds brought it all back. Thank you, Lady Carnarvon.
Wonderful to see behind the walls at last, we have visited the Castle three times and always wondered what lay beyond that gate. The heritage apple trees were a highlight.
Watched this twice already. Would love a follow-up film when the summer planting is in, the cutting borders must be glorious in July.
